I had my initial reservations about this book at first. I was concerned about a Secret Service agent getting invloved with her charge, for me it was more an issue of ethics. I also was not used to Radclyffe writing such a spoiled and controlling femme lead like Blair. She annoyed me so much and I honestly felt that she did not deserve Cam in the beginning. One thing I did appreciate about the Blair character was that she jumped right off the page, you knew exactly what she was all about immediately. She was no passive femme needing a strong butch, she was/is strong, and sophisticated even if she does/did use sex as a weapon. Rad really fleshed Blair out and I always knew where I stood with her character.Cam was very stoic to me, she was the silent, commanding presence that I love about Rad's tough butches. There was a hidden softness to her as well that was endearing, but at the same time, she was far from soft which was interesting especially if you've read any of Rad's other books that feature her butches. Sometimes, Rad's femmes have a way of taming the butches and turning them to jelly! (good or bad, depends on what your in to!) Cam in my opinion is totally different from all the butch's that Rad's written, she screamed authority and respect and I loved that about her character! She desired Blair a lot, but you could tell she was not going to let in stand in the way of her duty to protect.Claire the call-girl deserves some mention as well, there was something tender about her relationship was Cam even though it was brief, it's still worth mentioning. At times I found Claire's character much more sexy that Blair for reasons the reader will figure out. Not too much action occured here, there was a stalker and a shooting but the action level was pretty low, which I did not have a problem with.The wrtitng was great which is typical with Rad. Overall, when I got over my initial issues with the book and saw how it played out, in the end, it was a good read.
