We met Cody in the last book as Drew worked with him at the center and eventually welcomed him into their home. Your heart couldn't help but hurt for the boy who was kicked out of his home, spent time on the streets before finally settling in to the shelter and working hard to make sure he got a scholarship.Nick's path was always baseball and as the son of a former player/now GM, he felt he had to prove that he wasn't riding his dad's coattails into the MLB. The prologue was heartbreaking. Nick did what he felt he had to do for both of their sakes and it's just so sad.Nick spends years in the minors and Cody goes on to school and ends up interning with the Mavericks. They rekindle their relationship as both men have feelings for each other, but it isn't an easy road to the HEA. Nick finally makes it into the majors, comes out to his father, and is taken under the wing of the older guys.The hotel scene was rough, but I think most of us knew who was responsible for hurting Drew and I'm glad this was the catalyst for Drew getting the closer that he needed.You can't help but hope for the best for Cody and Nick and I'm glad they get their HEA.*I received an ARC of this book, but all my thoughts and opinions are my own*
